Meeting at The
Wheatsheaf Inn,
|
December 2005 News At our last meeting we voted to set aside a proportion of our funds, that we will hopefully raise over the forthcoming year, towards helping the children's charity, Winston’s Wish. At a recent meeting of the Club, members agreed to make a donation to the Northleach & District W I to help with the transportation cost of sending the ‘Shoeboxes for Christmas’ to children in eastern Europe. A donation was also approved to Northleach Primary School to help meet the costs arising from a recent incident of vandalism at the school. The Lions International has set up a Beslan Children’s Disaster Fund to help families who have suffered from this tragedy. The Club agreed to make a donation which will go to the local Lions in Russia who can use it to best advantage on the spot. MedicAlert® is the Charity sponsored by Lions Clubs providing a life-saving identification system for individuals with hidden medical conditions and allergies and gives a 24hour emergency telephone service. A latest report states that, after an appeal to Lions Clubs, funds are now available to invest in a faster I T system. This will lead to a far quicker and enhanced service for its 245,000 members
