Meeting at The Wheatsheaf Inn,
Northleach 2nd Tuesday every month

The most recent meeting of the Club was attended by the Lions District Governor Jim Hamilton and two members of the Chipping Norton Lions Club

 

Arrangements were finalised for our charitable collections at Waitrose in Cirencester on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th November.   Also, the club will have a stall at the Victorian evening in Bourton on Friday 2nd December

 

At the meeting it was agreed to pay for the transportation costs for the Northleach W.I. boxes of toys to be sent to underprivileged children abroad at this Christmastime.

 

A inter-club quiz competition between clubs from Lechlade, Cheltenham , Gloucester and Northleach was held at the Wheatsheaf Inn. It was a very successful and enjoyable evening with Gloucester being declared the winners.

 

A book entitled “Granny’s Bedtime Stories” has been written and published with the purpose of raising money for Lions. The club agreed to take some and try to sell them at our various functions.

 

The Lions World Sight Day was chosen for HRH The Countess of Wessex, the Lions Patron, to officially launch  The Lions Clubs International Campaign SightFirst ll in the British Isles. This campaign is to raise  $150 million to enable the work of SightFirst l to be continued. The first programme saved more the 24 million people worldwide from severe vision loss since its launch in 1990.

 

The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month for its business meeting. The venue is the Wheatsheaf Inn at Northleach starting at 8pm and all interested people are welcome to attend.  The next meeting is on December 13th.
