January 2009 News The collections at Christmastime were successful and the club was very grateful to the public for its generosity.
Members agreed to support the Marie Curie Cancer Care Appeal by taking a collection at Tesco in Stow on Saturday 7th February.
Donations were approved to The James Hopkins Trust, Winston’s Wish who offer support to bereaved children and the County Air Ambulance.
In January, members and partners enjoyed a meal in the Sherborne Arms in Northleach
The initial meeting to start-up a Lions Club in Cirencester was held in January and a further meeting will be held for any interested persons in the Waggon & Horses Inn on February 12th at 8pm.
The initial Lions International SightFirst Campaign launched in 1989 raised $143million to treat preventable blindness worldwide. The second Campaign was launched in 2005 and has raised $200million. It is estimated that 74million people will have benefited from this project.
The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month for its business meeting. The venue is the Red Lion Inn in Northleach starting at 8pm. All interested are welcome to attend. The next meeting is on February 10th. For further information telephone 0845 8339825 |
