The Club observed a two minute silence in memory of member Ron Weldon who died in early June. A member of the Lions Organisation for well over 30 years, Ron founded the Northleach Club when he settled in the town 19 years ago. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow which is the highest honour a member can achieve in Lionism. His son David is a member of the Club.
During June the Club held a collection at Tesco in Cirencester and £ 264 was raised in aid of the Gloucestershire Air Ambulance. The Club wish to thank the public for their generosity. Also in June members manned the school carpark in Bourton to raise funds for our general charities.
Donations were approved to the Macmillan Nurses, Gloucestershire County Air Ambulance and Lions Campaign SightFirst 11.
The Club will provide light refreshments for the Cotswold School 6th Form art exhibition at the Westwood Centre on July 12/13th
The Club will hold its President’s Handover at the Hare & Hounds on the 4th July. Other social events include a skittles evening at Guiting Power and a meal at the Red Lion Inn at the end of July. The Club normally meets on the second Tuesday of each month for its business meeting. The venue is the Red Lion Inn in Northleach starting at 8pm. All interested are welcome to attend.
