February 2007 News Visiting members of the Carterton Lions Club were welcomed to the February meeting. The collection at Tesco in Cirencester raised almost £400 in aid of the Gloucestershire County Air Ambulance service. It was agreed that the collection at Tesco in Stow on the 15th March would be in aid of the North Cotswold Disabled Group who is raising funds for a replacement vehicle.
It was agreed to make a donation to “Kids for Kids”. This is a charity which supplies basic help to villages in Darfur with water, goats, donkeys, etc to enable the villagers to remain rather than have to go to the displacement camps.
There is a quiz evening at Blades on the 23 March and a treasure hunt is being organised for the April social outing. President Keith that he would like to see a Friends of Lions association formed to encourage supporters of the Club in our various activities.
Lions Day with the United Nations is on the 9th March. Lions is the worlds’ only International Service Organisation to be afforded this privilege. The England date is 13th March at the Houses of Parliament.
The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month for its business meeting. The venue is the Red Lion Inn in Northleach starting at 8pm. All interested are welcome to attend.
