Meeting at The
Wheatsheaf Inn,
|
June 2006 News July sees the start of a new Lionistic Year and the President for the next twelve months will again be Lion Keith Messenger. Having led the Club through a successful year he was unanimously re-elected. The Club Secretary will continue to be Lion Stuart Asquith and the Treasurer also is unchanged with Lion Mike Chappin.
Lions Edward Timms and Nick Stroude will lead the Fundraising and Community Service; Lions Ray Savill and Keith Herbert will lead Donations and Service whilst Lion Barbara Eastland will continue as Social Officer. Also unchanged for the coming year are Lion Tom Atkins as Almoner and Lion Adam Gardner as Public Relations Officer.
During the month of May we attended the Springtime in Stowell Park to look after the car-parking arrangements. It needed bravehearts to withstand hours of rain and buffetting winds but everyone survived –the only casualty being the Club’s Gazebo! It was so disappointing for the organisers.
The car treasure-hunt in early June was very much enjoyed by all the contestants although there was some debate as to what the ornaments were depicted on top of a gate entrance- acorns, pineapples or artichokes! The finish was at the Sherborne Arms at Aldsworth for refreshments.
The Club is offering refreshments to the public at the Victoria Hall in Bourton-on-the-Water on Saturday 22nd July.
The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month for its business meeting. The venue is the Wheatsheaf Inn at Northleach starting at 8pm. And all interested are welcome to attend. The next meeting is on July 11th.
