Meeting at The
Wheatsheaf Inn,
|
July 2006 News At the July meeting, 100% attendance awards were presented to Lions Barbara, Edward, Stuart, Terry and Keith Messenger. The new District Governor, Lion Adrian Hicks, has adopted for his year of office the slogan “Get Involved” encouraging members to make full use of Lions in-house forums as well as getting into the community.
It was agreed to have a Club stall for the sale of lion toys and books at the Northleach Country Day on August 6th. The Club will be supervising the car-parking at the Cotswold School in Bourton on August 20th. A donation was approved to the Lions Belarus Trust. This is run from the UK specifically for the badly effected areas of the Chernobyl catastrophe in 1986. The particular appeal at the moment is for School 27 where there are 150 visually impaired children under six years of age who need treatment several times a week. The equipment is old and needs replaced desperately. A donation was also approved to Cold Aston School for the purchase of small toys as needed.
Planned social events include a brewery visit in August and a meal at the Sherborne Arms in Aldsworth in September
The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month for its business meeting. The venue is the Wheatsheaf Inn at Northleach starting at 8pm. All interested are welcome to attend. The next meeting is on August 8th. TheClubwebsite: northleachandfosselions.org.uk for further information.
