Meeting at The
Wheatsheaf Inn,
|
August News At the August business meeting the treasurer Mike Chappin presented his annual financial report. It was noted that fund-raising had shown an increase of 6% over last year and, in addition, there were several “non-financial” charitable services carried out in the year.
Fund-raising in August included attending the Northleach Country Fair, selling refreshments and running a tombola at Victoria Hall in Bourton and supervising the car-parking in Bourton.
On 2nd September the club will hold a street collection in Northleach.
Socially, there was a guided tour round Wychwood Brewery in Witney in August. In September, members, their wives and friends are having a meal at the Sherborne Arms in Aldsworth. A skittles evening has been arranged at the Farmers Arms in Guiting Power in October.
The International Convention of Lions Clubs was held in Boston USA in July and embraced 10,000 Lions from 110 countries and who all paraded through the streets of the city. Lions membership this year is expected to make a net gain worldwide, contrary to the general trend.
The Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month for its business meeting. The venue is the Wheatsheaf Inn at Northleach starting at 8pm. All interested are welcome to attend. The next meeting is on September 12th. TheClubwebsite: northleachandfosselions.org.uk for further information. |
